AJ BELL CASE STUDY
In 2020 the UR Wellbeing team were appraoched to provide a service which supported staff with their physical and mental health post covid 19.

A consultation process was set up as part of the initial process to assess the overall organisation to understand the direction of the wellbeing service

What we did:

Understand current offers
We Gathered feedback from employees about what they like and what they felt was lacking.

Collect Survey Data
We conducted anonymous surveys to understand employees’ needs, preferences, and areas of concern regarding their wellbeing.

The purpose was to develop a goals strategy which could range from reducing stress levels to improving work-life balance or enhancing physical health.

Align with Business Objectives
We made sure that the wellbeing strategy supports the overall goals of the business, such as improving employee retention and boosting productivity.

Identify key areas of focus
Physical Health: Consider initiatives like in house classes, gym memberships, fitness challenges, or on-site wellness programs.
Mental Wellbeing: Provide access to mental health resources, such as counselling services or workshops on stress management
THE SERVICES 
The UR Wellbeing team prescribed the best services in house for all staff across the organisation.

UR Wellbeing services included:

  • Group based exercise classes
  • Workshops and Educational support services
  • Health Screening
  • Sports Massage
  • Physio and Rehab support
  • 1-2-1 exercise referral support for physical and mental health
  • Mental Health training and 1-2-1 support
  • In house events and competitions
Since 2020-2024 Active members have increased from 300 to 800+ members
The class timetable was made more accessible for staff throughout the day with up to 3 classes per day to support beginners to become more physically active.
THE BENEFITS
  • The AJ Bell team have grown from 650 to over 1,400 staff

  • AJ Bell customer base has grown from 150,000 to 528,000

  • AJ Bell attract the top talent across the country and keep the top talent.

  • AJ Bell were nominated as one of the top 20 businesses to work for in the UK in 2023 which is an improvement on previous years where they was in the top 100.
